JT: PITCH and GO in Tallinn, Estonia 25.05.08. You can find more picture from the competition here http://public.fotki.com/murdjaloom/go-1/ and http://samurai-aapo.blogspot.com/

Lisa: hi, i have never heard of this kind of competition, what has the dog to do there?? it looks funny

JT: In Estonia the "Pitch&Go" competition was arranged first time in Tallinn in Estonia 9th March 2008 year and by dogschool Tubli (where we go with Aapo) . In the competition the dog has to bring somekind of plaything to his owner as much time and so fast has he can within 90 second and earn scores like that. The farer the plaything flews and the dog brings it to you, the more scores you get. Also your dog cannot drop the plaything before the line which you're behind of. It's pretty hard to explain the rules but the event is fun and educative! :) It develops your dogs speed (and he can run a lot) and also enchase yours co-operation. We've been participating the competition every single time now (3 times together now) and every single time its goes better then last time. Aapo enjoys it. Well Aapo enjoys every sport, that requires running Aapo has been the first and only smooth collie in Estonia who has taken part the competition, but hopefully it changes and a lot of smoothes participate in it next times

Natalain: JT Nice photos! In 17 May there were National Collie Show in Moscow and here was held Pitch&Go competition also. I think that it is very interesting activity and dogs and owners like it very much! Our Duna (Natalain Heilory Hope) took part in this competition (she was 4th). I think that it is very good activity for smooth collies! Good luck for next time!

JT: Thank you Natalain! Here are some pics made on sunday. Aapo with his mom Kimmu

Natalain: JT Nice photos! It seems that Aapo is similar with Vipi!

JT: I thought to but some Aapo playing pics in here. One in agility practise One in Pitch&Go Also would like to ask, how many of you are playing frisbee with your smooth and how do they like it? Aapo is just crazy about it

Twinway: Congratulations for the pics of "pitch and go" !!!!!

JT: Thank you Twinway! I haven't updated Aapo's profile for ages in here, so thought to put some pics made last year in Lithuania, Vilnius dog-shows.. Vilnius Winter Cup Vilnius Christmas Cup

MacGee´s: Familiar looking photos.. Congratulations again on your result!

JT: Thanks MacGeer's ;)

JT: On 14.02.2009 we participated in International dog-show Tallinn, Estonia (judge was Göran Bodegard from Sweden). Aapo got his first CACIB and was BOB. Some pictures of him:

Natalain: JT Congratulations!

JT: Meanwhile in Estonia there was a Shrove Tuesday and I tried to teach Aapo with a clicker how to sleigh. I made a little video of it and you can see it here http://www.reporter.ee/?fbc&id=68346. I caught into it that I made another video of our practise, what you can find here http://www.reporter.ee/?fbc&id=68347 I recommend to turn up the volume as well :) If you like them, you can also give your vote ;)

JT: The video competition is just ending tomorrow, still have one day left to vote. So if you have time and you like our videos, please vote for us (give 10 points) - cause the end is so busy and straggle is big. We just need couple of more votes (in estonian hinda). http://www.reporter.ee/?fbc&id=68346. http://www.reporter.ee/?fbc&id=68347 Vote for a smoothie ;)

JT: Some winter pictures made by Dagmar Tappo Aapo getting the snowball Aapo getting the ball Aapo satisfied having the ball

Nina: Excellent photos!

JT: Today we did some herding in Estonia. The feelings are up and we really liked it. Some pictures of the event. Firstly Aapo sniffing what kind of animal is that and then... he started to chase them and bark at them.. and just enjoying the play.. and getting more bold and confident... And at last, after hard work, he got tired And now, while sleeping, he is probably dreaming and counting the sheeps Also a friend made a movie of our herding attempts (2nd attempt), you find it here. In the end Aapo got a clue, what he is suppose to do and he liked it , so we probably try it again this summer as much as possible. More pictures and info of the day you will find in our blog.

JT: At Aapo's 2. year birthday we had our very first water rescue practice. Here are some pictures of it. Aapo with the life-jacket.. (because there hasn't trained any different breed of dogs than special water dogs, then they didn't have the right number of the jacket, but next time Aapo will get his own and have the correct size ) Rescue guys explaining Aapo what he is suppose to do.. Rescue guys showing Aapo where I am and where he suppose to swim.. Aapo swimming at me.. and swimming... ... and swimming. and running fast to dry himself guickly We had a great day and can't wait the next week already

Duna: What a busy dog! Super-Dog!

JT: I haven't wrote here a long time now, so will I update the most important results and doings here. Well since summer time we have been busy practicing obedience and agility. The beginning of this year we achieved our first I rank in the obedience beginners class. Unfortunately the obedience compatitions aren't very often here (if lucky, then once in a month) and we try to achieve two I ranks before summer or in summer time. This weekend, we traveled to Lithuania and participated in two international dog shows. Aapo achieved there his last 2 needed CACIBs at the age of 2 years and 7 months and in 3 months we can apply for the INT CH title Also he is now Lithuania Winner 2010, Lithuania CH and Baltic CH (last year he began Estonian and Latvian CH). This year we also plan to start competing agility officially - since now we have done it unofficially and the beginning of this year even achieved I place in maxi class. The beginning of this year we also started practicing new hobbie - search and rescue, what suites Aapo very well and as I knew before he has very good sense of smell. And later I plan to do the rescue suitability test. In summer time we plan to practice more herding again and water rescue. So that's about it, for now.

Lisa: Yes, Aapo is a very busy boy! Congrats to the showresults, why can you only apply for CIB in 3 months? Skip also finished his CIB with under 3 years and it was no problem... Good luck with all of your plans, keep the activities going - I wish I had more time for sports with Skip. too... Best wishes from Vienna, Lisa and Skip

Duna: JT Aapo is really cool!!! Good luck with all Your plans and hobbies!!! Congratulations with finishing INT CH and Baltic CH titles! Lisa wrote: why can you only apply for CIB in 3 months? I guess, it could be Estonian Kennel Club regulations. In Russia (by our RKF rules) we can send documents for INT CH title not earlier then 4 month after last CACIB has been got, in case when owner have no confirmation of it. I've got this confirmation only once - from Latvia (Show was in June, and I've got confirmations in December by post).

JT: Thank you Lisa and Duna! Yes it's quite the same as Duna said. The three month period is because in that time the dog show arrangers-clubs have to send the results to FCI and that's because I have to wait 3 months before I can apply for the C.I.B.

Lisa: Well, Interchampion needs a lot of patience... I applied in February and still no sign of it.

JT: Meanwhile Aapo's C.I.B title has been confirmed by FCI and Aapo has also now the right to compete in AG 2 level while having 3 zero runs, 1 in jumping course and 2 in agility course. Couple of videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghs7M7gS2ug Different leading ways http://vimeo.com/14453971 and the last 2 competitions (after busy week): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmD6jhcD2jo

JT: One more video of our practice (made today): http://vimeo.com/15404366 It is just addictive - the video making

JT: Aapo competes from now on in obedience open class.

JT: Couple of AG videos: http://vimeo.com/16102841 http://vimeo.com/16596840

JT: Tribute to the agility http://vimeo.com/16630874

Nina: You're doing a great job, thanks for sharing the videos!

MacGee's: Well done Aapo & Jaanika!

JT: I watched old pictures and videos of Aapo today and found the below video clip done the beginning of this year and made a little movie of it :-) http://www.vimeo.com/17714330

JT: We have now practiced search and rescue little over a year and I'm very amazed how it has influenced Aapo. I have never seen Aapo more happier then practicing this sports - he is just undistcribeable happy and enjoying it truly fully. If the other (for example herding, agility, firsbee) fields have been fun, then search and rescue training makes seeingly Aapo's eyes bling with undistcibeable shine. So from that I can say, that this is the field that Aapo has and is enjoying the most. We don't have yet any official results, but he is very promising in it. There are amazing stories how he has practiced and amazed us all with his abilities, eventhough he isn't that professional yet. For example we had this scent training a few weeks ago. There was a large field (500 m x 500 m) and the figurant (person he was suppose to look for) was in the end of the field behind some trees. And when other dogs did the - S- moving to let the dog catch the scent, then Aapo after I took his leash away, straight foward caught the scent and started to speed up and run with amazing power straight to the figurant - me and the trainer where just watching each other and thinking like what just happened - it was amazing!! Here is a picture of the field, made last year. Few pictures of the trainings: And also some pictures are here: https://picasaweb.google.com/SamuraiAapo/SearchAndRescue#
