Euro Dog Show - Dublin

Roberta Semenzato: Who's comin' at the next EDS? I entred Cady but still don't know if I will bring she with me, anyway I will go with other dogs... People says that there are 5000 dogs entred in all breeds but there are no statistic online at now. I hope to see lot of dogs from UK

Îòâåòîâ - 19

Lisa: When will that show in Dublin take place? Is it every year? If it's after october we could come as well ...

willowhurst: Its end of May .. not long now :) We are taking our Mickey . fiona xx

Glenmorangie: Hi all ! EDS in Dublin is on May 30-31 & June 1st. EuroDogShow is once in each European FCI country. Last year it was in Budapest (Hungary), next year in Celje (Slovenia), 2011 in Leewarden (the Netherlands) and so on...... Please take a look at the FCI website http://www.fci.be/expositions.aspx Unfortunately I can't go there but I wish success to you all Best regards, Françoise

willowhurst: http://www.showdogsireland.com/ the break down entries are on 5 smooths and 31 roughs http://www.showdogsireland.com/FileLibrary/2009/EuropeanWinnersDogShow09BreedCount.pdf

MacGee´s: Only 5 smooth collies??

willowhurst: doesnt surprise me to be honest .. people from England are not very adventurous in my opinion , I mean its only a stones throw away and we love going over to Ireland of the shows

Roberta Semenzato: Just 5 I hope to see some smooth from England In all breeds there are few entries (let's see the australian shepherds: 33 entries and 12 are from italy!) as Willowhurst say englander are not great traveller and is it so expensive to reach ireland from europe (I'll spend 100 euros just for bring Cady on the boat!!, then think to the others trip costs, hotel, entries and so on)

Glenmorangie: willowhurst wrote: 5 smooths and 31 roughs Well.... Only 5 Smooths entered is not many. But I think that the ratio 5/31 is about what we can see in most European countries since the Rough Collie is much well known and superior in number than the Smooth. Roberta Semenzato wrote: and is it so expensive to reach ireland from europe (I'll spend 100 euros just for bring Cady on the boat!!, then think to the others trip costs, hotel, entries and so on) Well said Roberta ! I also imagine that Administrative conditions/restrictions for coming in Ireland (in England as well) are very heavy to stand for both the dogs and breeders/owners and this has a cost too...... Quarantine does no longer exist as it still was few years ago but the new rules sound to me like almost the same barrier Even going to British islands just for a mating is not simple at all and must require at least one year preparation before crossing the Channel.... And..... driving on the bad side of the road is not quite for me Good luck to each of you, have fun and come back full of wonderful souvenirs Best regards, Françoise

JT: Well I really wanted to go there and participate in the show but in the end the cost of the trip got an obstacle for me. If Ireland would have accepted more different airlines and routes, then maybe we would have participated in it. But to travel both way - throw land and air - it all would got too expensive to go there basically for one day. But all smoothies who go there good luck to you

willowhurst: Glenmorangie wrote: And..... driving on the bad side of the road is not quite for me this is what we say too hehe, Ireland is good though m this is normal to us .

Roberta Semenzato: It's true, it's difficult to see 5 smooths in a row but I see 10 in luxembourgh and 5 in the last italian specialty so why, near england where smooth entries are usually very high, for an euro dog show there are just 5 dogs? Someone think that for an englander the FCI-EURO WINNER title is not so important... do you think it too? Maybe with a collie specialist as judge people will be more interested ? Anyway I repeat: there are really low entries in ALL BREEDS, I think it could be for the season too: showground is not totally inside and dogs will feel the heat and the rain (in ireland it is raining since last 6 days !!) and coated breeds are going out of condition. In Italy some years ago people starts to suggest a petition for asking to the FCI to ban EURO and WORLD shows in summer, it will be a good idea for dog wellness sorry 4 my english...

willowhurst: IN England there is The Smooth Collie Club Of Great Britain Open show going on as well , its usually at the beginning of May I think but this one is late this year , the championship show is in September , so I am going to that but I think more people SHOULD to Ireland in May. We have said so many times to people in England , you should go to Ireland , the shows are well good , but all they say is Ireland is a forrign country and too far to go In my opinion its not that far and I love going Am really looking forward to it
